This BOD intelligent tester uses mercury free differential pressure method to measure BOD value in water, and adopts imported sensors to ensure reliable data. This product simulates the natural biodegradation process, where the oxygen in the air above the test bottle continuously supplements the dissolved oxygen consumed in the water. The CO2 generated during the organic matter degradation process is absorbed by potassium hydroxide in the sealed lid. The sensor monitors the changes in oxygen pressure in the bottle in real time, establishes a correlation between biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) and gas pressure, accurately measures BOD, and displays the results in real time.

Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) is a measure of the amount of oxygen required by aerobic microorganisms to break down organic matter in a water sample over a specific period of time. It represents the oxygen consumption requirement of the water source. The method for determining Carbon-Based BOD (CBOD) is the same as that for BOD, but it inhibits nitrifying bacteria in the water sample. Nitrifying bacteria consume nitrogenous substances (compounds containing reduced nitrogen), thereby increasing the oxygen demand of the wastewater. Since the purpose of the BOD test is to measure carbon-based substances, nitrogenous substances are generally considered to be interfering factors.
