Plant water potential tester is a scientific research instrument used to determine the water status of plants. It is able to quickly determine the water potential of the plant and its composition, as well as to press the sap of the woody duct for composition measurement and analysis. By using a plant water potential analyzer, it is easy to study the water potential relationship of plants and the relationship between plants and the environment. PWPA-M353 plant water potential tester is suitable for the study of plant physiology, ecology, agronomy, forestry and forage. Guiding the rational use of water and drought-resistant breeding for crops, forests and grasslands is an important instrument for teaching and scientific research in agriculture and forestry. The instrument is easy to operate, fast to detect, and suitable for both indoor and outdoor and field measurements.
In the continuous system of soil--plant--atmosphere, the rhizome of the plant continuously absorbs water from the soil, and the leaves continue to evaporate to the surrounding environment to lose water, in this gradient system of water potential, there must also be a water potential gradient relationship between the roots--stem--leaves of the plant, so that the small water column in the wooden duct is affected by the negative pressure of the low water potential of the air, forming the pulling force of water upward transportation. When a plant branch or leaf is cut off, this tensioned column of water in the duct breaks, and the water column shrinks from the incision to the inside of the upper end. The cut material is loaded into the pressure chamber of the instrument, so that one end of the incision extends out of the outdoor and sealed, and then pressurized to rebalance the tension in the branch or leaf, and push the small water column back to just the surface of the incision, at this time, the water droplet detection probe automatically detects the exudation of water droplets, and automatically locks the measurement data. The pressure value displayed by the instrument is the current water potential value of the plant.
